My Review
How can I sum up the sv650 in one word, hhmm I can't so let me just tell you of my experience so far, when I first picked up my SV the feeling was of pure elation ( I was like a bairn at xmas), of course this couldn't last, or could it. This little power pack has given me many hours of enjoyment (and continues to) for a measly £3900 brand new UK model, although I understand they have now gone up in price as a friend of mine went to the same dealer I bought mine and was offered a one year old model with 6K on the clock for the same £3900 that I purchased mine new 8 months earlier. The agility of this bike was what struck me initially, it handles like a dream you can throw it about like a 250. Twisty back roads is it where it comes into its own and the speed out of corners is astounding, the engine braking means you don't need to go grabbing for the brake every corner, a simple back off on the throttle and get that power back on, earlier than I have ever experienced. a word of warning though I don't recommend to much of a handful in the wet, as the stock tyres are totally shite in the rain, I have had the arse hanging out on far to many occasions and never to sure if im gonna get it back (this can look well cool coming out of corners and roundabouts but only if you keep it upright and don't tell anyone about the stain you nearly put on yir pants while performing it). I will go more in detail about my tyre problems on another page. I have fitted a scorpion can on the bike now which the dealer recommended, "as no jetting is required" (personally I think a little tweak of the jets wouldn't be a bad idea as there still seems to be bit of a flat spot in the lower range) it sounds superb but you might want to pull in the clutch or at least back off if there are any traffic cops about. pull away in first and give it a handful at around 4000 rpm and watch the front wheel rise and hail the gods, change to second and she will just keep going, I don't know about third as I have never managed it, im not claiming to be a wheelie expert, what can I say my last bike was a GS550e which didn't really give me the opportunity to practice.
